How do you fix your computer from making an “e” with a tick above it?

something similar to “é” when you try to type a question mark?

If so you likely have your keyboard layout set to a french keyboard layout.

In windows this is controlled by the language settings. The easiest way to change this is the Language bar. It should be somewhere on your taskbar most likely saying either EN or FR (English or French).

To change your default language in windows XP:
1. Right click on the language bar.
2. Select settings.
3. Change the Default input langauge.
4. Click OK.
5. Try your keyboard. (closing whatever program you are in should reset the keyboard to the default if it doesnt automatically.)

You can also do so by:
1. Right click on the task bar.
2. Move to toolbars
3. Select language bar
4. continue from step 1 above.

Please note that this will change where some of the characters are located on the keyboard. but hopefully by setting it back to english you have the same keyboard layout as what is shown on your keyboard.
